Notes: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is developing a new malaria vaccine called AdFalciVax to fight Plasmodium falciparum. This was recently highlighted due to its unique chimeric and recombinant design. AdFalciVax is being developed with Regional Medical Research Centre Bhubaneswar (RMRCBB), National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR), and Department of Biotechnology – National Institute of Immunology (DBT-NII). It uses Lactococcus lactis, a safe food-grade bacterium, for production. The vaccine targets both the pre-erythrocytic and sexual stages of the malaria parasite. This dual-target approach offers both personal protection and reduction of mosquito transmission.

Notes: India’s role in global food standards was appreciated at the 88th session of the Executive Committee of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CCEXEC 88). The session was recently held at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Headquarters in Rome from 14th to 18th July 2025. The Committee reviewed India-led work on Millets Group Standards and praised the efforts. The Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) is the global body for setting international food standards. was established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Its main goal is to protect consumer health and ensure fair practices in international food trade.

Notes: Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Rural Development to promote Bima Sakhi Yojana in rural India. The MoU was signed during the financial inclusion conclave ‘Anubhuti’ held in Goa in July 2025. Bima Sakhi Yojana is a performance-based stipendiary scheme launched by Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) for women empowerment. Selected women receive training and monthly stipends for three years — ₹7,000 in the first year, ₹6,000 in the second, and ₹5,000 in the third. The scheme aims to appoint two lakh Bima Sakhis across India over the next three years.

Notes: The National Cybersecurity Exercise – Bharat NCX 2025 was officially inaugurated on July 21, 2025. It was launched by Deputy National Security Advisor T. V. Ravichandran at Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), with Vice Chancellor Bimal N. Patel present. The event is organised by the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) in collaboration with RRU. The theme is “Enhancing the Operational Preparedness of Indian Cyberspace.” It brings together cybersecurity experts, defence forces, policymakers, and industry leaders for a two-week national cyber drill. It simulates real-world threats like critical infrastructure attacks, deepfakes, API flaws, and autonomous malware.

Notes: The Meri Panchayat mobile app recently won the prestigious World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025 Champion Award. The award was given under the category “Cultural Diversity and Identity, Linguistic Diversity and Local Content” at the WSIS+20 High-Level Event held in Geneva, Switzerland. Meri Panchayat App is developed by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The app provides real-time access to Panchayat budgets, payments, development plans, and details of elected representatives.
